Stars of Westgate

High Street Heritage Action Zone Cultural Programme

A community takeover street party celebrating local people, culture, and heritage.

Saturday 10th September, Noon to 4pm

Community members are invited to a street party where we will unveil a large textile artwork with stars designed by local people. This will be an open street party event for anyone and everyone to join.

Be a star on Westgate Street! From May till the event there will be workshops at the Cathedral Quarter shop on 21 Westgate Street and with local partners inviting participants to design a star that represents them. The textile artwork will be made up of hundreds of stars in paying homage to the area’s rich history of tailoring and millinery, making an impressive colourful splash on the high street.

Throughout the street party, there will be a variety of entertainment, all from Gloucester, such as an open mic, live music, spoken word, history talks, exhibitions, reminiscing, and more.

Working with Strike A Light, Gloucester City Council, Historic England, Gloucester Culture Trust and Applied Live Art Studios
